Marrie Dorrine Bigelow

November 6, 1935 — October 5, 2021

Marrie Dorrine Rocco Bigelow went to be with the Lord she loves on Tuesday, October 5, 2021.  She was born on November 6, 1935 in Burnham, PA and preceded in death by her parents, Charles A. and Verna Johnson Rocco and brother SFC Wm. Frank Rocco, U.S.Army.

She was married to her loving spouse Richard A. (Dick) Bigelow for 66 years, and in 1968 they moved their family to Durham, NC where she devoted herself to raising her family.  Marrie was an avid reader, gardener, quilter, knitter, bird enthusiast, teacher, seamstress and  mentor to her Christian family and friends.  She had a thirst for knowledge and explored many avenues of interest such as teaching herself languages like Spanish, Italian, German and Hebrew, playing the guitar and painting. She was an amazing hostess who welcomed all and made room for anyone at her dinner table.

She was very passionate about her church family and felt blessed to be an elder’s wife. She enjoyed teaching women’s bible study, participated in many international mission trips and had a heart for the Turkman people.  For years she led the prayer chain, but was a behind the scenes servant for the Lord who selflessly served others and got great joy being a servant to others..

Along with her husband, she is survived by her sister Jo Ann Mattern, her six children, Nancy McCall, Cathy Carinder (Jude), Mary Kay Clark, William F. Bigelow II (Kim), Anne Hedrick, and Stephen Bigelow (Leslie).   She is also survived by her 22 grandchildren, the jewels in her crown,  whom  she loved and adored and prayed for every day. Kimberly McCall, Bekah McCall, Abby Carinder,  (Michael), Lizzie Carrinder (fiancee Cassady), Jonathan Clark (Lindsay), Casey Clark, Melissa Baccus (David), Billie Anne Bigelow, Katie Bigelow, Wilson Bigelow, Quinn Bigelow, Davis Bigelow, Richard Hedrick, Kristen Day, Rachel Arant, Andrew Hedrick (Nicolette), Brian Hedrick, Justin Hedrick, Ashley Landers (Jeffry) Hayley Bigelow (Dylan), Blake Morgan, and Parker Bigelow , 11 great-grandchildren, Bella, Nico, Sophia, Sarah Ann, Matthew, Eve,  Becca, Riley; Benjamin, Ruth Ann, Owen, Will, Jake, Birdie Ann, Ledger.

She was loved by all and will be missed by many, but we know in our hearts, she is tap dancing in heaven and filled with joy to have met her Lord Jesus Christ in fulfillment of His promise.
