Madeline Fuchs

Madeline Fuchs, 90, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2015. Madeline was born ineersey City, New Jersey to the late Walter and Frieda Wernli oneeptember 26, 1925. Madeline attended nursing school ineersey City, where she met the love of her life, Kaspar. They were married on October 6, 1956 and moved to Charlottesville, Virginia. ??Madeline taught in the nursing school at UVA prior to the birth of her two sons, Herbert and Gerhard. ??Madeline and Kaspar loved the Blue Ridge Mountains and spent much time on Skyline Drive. ??Once Kaspar completed residency training at UVA, the family moved first to Indianapolis, Indiana, and finally settled in Los Angeles, California in 1964. ??Madeline was a devoted mother, taking pride in the accomplishments of her sons. ??She resumed her nursing career, excelling in patient care aneeducation. ??In 1990, Madeline and Kaspar retired to Durham, North Carolina, aneenjoyed attending organeecitals at Duke Chapel and travelling to visit friends and relatives throughout the Uneed States and Germany. ??Madeline joined a women???s group, the Reviewers, and cherished her friendships with its members. Throughout her life, Madeline was quick to help others, always with a friendly smile. ??She was very proud of the accomplishments of her sons and their families. Madeline was predeceased by her beloved husband of 53 years, Kaspar, in 2010.?? She is survived by her sons Herbert Fuchs, MD PhD and his wife, Mary Ann, of Durham, and Gerhard Fuchs, PhD and his wife Tami of Gainesville, FL. and grandchildren Matthew and Julianne Fuchs. The family would like to thank Dr. Heidi White and the entire staff of Croasdaile Village for the excellent care they provided to Madeline. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Madeline???s nee to the Fuchs Family Piano Fund at Duke HomeCare and Hospice, 4321 Medical Park Drive, Durham, NC 27704.
