Leo Nelson Thomasson,??93, of Oxford, NC died??Thursday, February 27, 2020 at home surrounded by family he loved so much.??He??was??born in??Granville County oneebruary 12, 1927??to his predeceased parents, Leo Bartrell Thomasson and Sadie??Averette??Thomasson. Nelson was raised on a tobacco farm and at age 17 joined the Navy. He served as a Naval Corpsman in Bainbridge, Maryland during WWII. After his service, he returned home and continued to farm tobacco on the family farm. He was married to the love of his life, Edna Mae, for 66 years. They had four children and seven grandchildren. He was a member of Peace???s Chapel Baptist Church where he served as deacon, trustee and on various committees through the years. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. In his retirement years, he enjoyed playing golf. Nelson is survived by his children, Linda T. Piper (Charles), Chris T. Wilkins??(Ray), L. Bart Thomasson (Anita), and Russell P. Thomasson (Kim);??and grandchildren, Brian Wilkins, Charlie Piper (Amanda), Christy??Edwards (Nick), Lauren Thomasson, Brandon Thomasson??(Sydney), Sarah??Thomasson, and??Jacob Thomasson. ??He is??also??survived by many other lovineextended family and friends. Nelson is predeceased by his??wife, Edna Mae??Parham??Thomasson;??parents; and siblings, Christine Dement, Selma Paschal, Woodrow Thomasson, and Pauline Cheatham. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Peace???s Chapel??Baptist Church,??4044 Fairport Rd.,??Kittrell, NC. ??Viewing will be??held an hour prior. ??Burial??will take place in the church cemetery and??the family will receive??guests for visitation??immediately??following??in??the fellowship hall.
