Oxford: Kitty McKinnon Farrior Cook, 95, widow of Richard Selon Cook, died April 6, 2016, in Raleigh, NC. She was born January 7, 1921, in Oxford, NC, to the late Kenneth McKinnon Farrior and Bessie Hoge Robards Farrior. Mrs. Cook graduated from Oxford High School and Farrior???s Business and Secretarial School, which was owned and operated by her mother. She attended George Washington Uneersity, Washington, DC. Mrs. Cook worked in the Engrossing Office at the N.C. State Legislature, Raleigh, NC, prior to acceptineemployment with the Office of Industrial Relations, U.S. Navy Department, Washington, DC, in 1942. She was later employed by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Washington, DC, and the U.S. Air Force at the Pentagon. Mrs. Cook was a life long Presbyterian and a member of St. Giles Presbyterian Church, Raleigh, NC. She enjoyed years of voluneer work and helping others after her family matured aneexpanded the research into her family genealogy previously done by her mother. She is survived by her daughter, Mary C. Rose and husband, Charles H. Cooper, II of Atlantic Beach, NC; sons Richard McKinnon Cook and fianc??e Peggy Anton, and Robert Selon Cook of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren Kimberly Rose Ballinger and husband Jim, Richard Selon Cook II, Patrick McKinnon Cook, Sean Joshua Cooper and wife Sarah, Troy and Tracy Sutton, great-grand daughters Caitlyn and Anna Cooper and great-grandson Vincent Sutton. Two nieces, Beth Harrell and Becky Murphy also survive her. She was preceded ineeath by her husband of 56 years Richard Selon Cook; brother, Edward Robards Farrior; sister, Mary Farrior Hutchinson; and nephew, Louis Rhem Hutchinson, Jr. A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, April, 9, 2016 at 3:00 pm at Elmwood Cemetery, 500 Hillsboro St., Oxford, NC.the Gentry-neell & Vaughan Funeral Home Chapel, 503 College Street, Oxford, NC.
