Kit Hanks Stewart, 58, died on Saturday, February 27, 2010. Kit was born in Houston, TX to the late Mary and Clyde W. Hanks, Jr. on May 9, 1951. Kit loved many things. She loved being a mother and raised five wonderful children. She loved writing and published a successful fiction neel printed in over eighty countries. She loved biblical research and holistic healing and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Research and a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the Uneersity of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. She was the 2002 recipient of the James M. Johnston Distinguished Senior Award in the Nursing Program. Kit also loved a challenge and had an eneepreneurial spirit that led her to co-found a successful log home company in Grand Lake Colorado and a Curves for Women Franchise in Chatham County, North Carolina. She loved to travel and most recently made several trips to Europe while working on a series of mysteries using the French culture and geography as her background She loved the ocean and she loved the outdoors. One of her favorite things to do was take long walks in Duke Gardens aneenjoy the flowers and birds. .The thing she loved the most, though, was to be with her family. She loved them dearly and they will always love her. Kit is survived by her husband Don Stewart of Durham; children Amy Lynn Stewart of New York, NY, Jesse Walton Stewart and his wife Heather of Monterey, CA, Kimberly Anneeremiah and her husband Jason of Pittsboro, NC, Travis Clement Stewart and his wife Stephanie of Boone, NC, and Sarah Elizabeth Gee and her husband Cary of Pittsboro, NC; grandchildren Sierra, Robert, Candace, Dillon, Trevor, Chloe, and Cameron; sister Mary Sue Listerman and many other loving family members and friends. Kit is predeceased by her parents and brother Clyde Hanks, III. Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made in Kit's nee to The Durham Rescue Mission, Attn: Christy Zimmerman, P.O. Box 11368, Durham, NC 27703. Please include "Kit Stewart Memorial" on the memo line of your check. A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, March 5, 2010 from the Chapel Hill Bible Church, 260 Erwin Rd., Chapel Hill. The Rev. Randy Russell will preside. A private cremationeervice will take place at the Hall-Wynne Crematory.
