Kenneth Wilson Cooper

Kenneth Wilson Cooper of Bynum, NC, died Wednesday, August 6, 2008, after aneextended illness. Born May 6, 1925, he was the 11th of 12 children of Grover Cleveland and Verdonia Phillips Cooper. Mr. Cooper served in the Navy during WWII. He was the starring pitcher for the Bynum Bulls Baseball Team and was recruited by a major league team before an injury that ended his baseball career. One of his first jobs was "Paper Boy" in Bynum and he worked at Cary Durham's Store in Bynum as a teen. He was a life long member of Bynum Uneed Methodist Church. Mr. Cooper was co-owner of Cooper-Harris Ford, Inc. in Pittsboro and Welford Harris Ford, Inc. in Siler City. In more recent years he enjoyed visiting friends at the Barber Shop and S&T's Soda Shoppe or sitting in front of the Nationwide store in downtown Pittsboro. He is survived by wife Wynell Stout Cooper of Bynum, childreneent Wilson Cooper and wife Linda of Pittsboro, Jenny Cooper Bouldin and husband Ray of Bynum, and Penny Cooper Boone and husband Tony of Murrell's Inlet, SC; grandchildren Justin Ray Bouldin and wife Brandy, Kenneth Brandon Bouldin, Darren Kirk Bouldin, Courtney Rae Bouldin, Michael Wilson Cooper, Tony Michael Boone and Jesse Wade Boone; 5 great-grandchildren, and sister Beulah Cooper Eubanks of Bynum and Rachel Cooper Baker of Apex. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Bymun Uneed Methodist Church. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Griffin Funeral Service in Pittsboro. Memorials may be made to Bynum Uneed Methodist Church.
