Katherine Mason Blalock

Katherine Mason Blalock, a resident of Granville County, North Carolina passed away at the age of 88 on July 7, 2019 at Duke Regional Hospital. Born Katherineelizabeth Mason to her parents, Windal White Mason and Beulah Agnes Grooms Mason oneebruary 7, 1931 in Pineview, NC in Harnett County.?? Katherine had two sisters Mary Winifred Mason Jones anee. Shirley Mason.?? She attended and graduated from the Oxford Orphanee in 1949 and met Wallace Allen Blalock, Jr and married him on March 12, 1950. Katherine was mother to Elizabeth Gail Moore (Graham Tineey Moore, Jr), Debra Blalock (Russell Frehling), Charles Windal Blalock (Wanda Newcomb Blalock), Suzanne Fox (deceased) and Lee Mason Blalock (Barbara Boulter); a grandmother to Katherine Landis Surles (Brandon Surles), Graham Tineey Moore III (Katherine T. Moore), Jesse Blalock Frehling; a great grandmother to Evelyn Landis Surles?? and an aunt to neerous nieces and nephews; all of whom she adored. Katherineenjoyed singing in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church choir, going dancing with her husband, voluneering as a Sunday School teacher and tending to her neerous large flower gardens.?? She will be remembered for her eneess drive to get the job done??? whether working in the fields or preparing and storing the produce from the large family garden. She was well known for preparing huge meals for the family, including all the field help during the summer harvest and whomever might appear at the door at mealtime.?? She was generous and seemingly tireless.???? Even with all the farm chores and cooking for a big family, she also found time to make many of her children???s clothes and to crochet heartfelt gifts. Katherine???s work ethic was an example to all around her.?? Her children are indebted to her for a legacy of perseverance and proficiency.?? She was a determined individual with a will that few would or could challenge.?? She will be greatly missed. Visitation for family and friends will be held oneednesday, July 10, 2019 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Gentry-neell & Vaughan Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 in the Chapel and to be officiated by Rev. Tim Atkinson.?? A private burial at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery later. Flowers are greatly appreciated, or memorial contributions may be made ineer honor to a charity of your choice.
