John Michael Donovan

John (Jack) Donovan passed away on February 3, 2022 at the age of 91. 

Born on August 28, 1930 in Syracuse, NY as the only child to Margaret and Michael Donovan.  He was a graduate of Syracuse University in Industrial Design.  After serving 2 years in the Army, he went on to have a 20 year career in Marketing and Design.  Inspired by a need in his community for Alcohol and Drug treatment he devoted the next 20 years as an alcoholism family counselor.  After retiring he explored many artistic endeavors such as stained glass, painting and calligraphy.  In his 80’s he had 2 fiction books published.  He was an enthusiastic volunteer at Holy Infant Catholic Church and in his neighborhood Association. 

He is survived by his wife Joan of 42 years and his children from his first marriage to Veronica Schairer, Kevin Michael (Leslie) and Kelly Jean (David Cady), four grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

The funeral will be held on February 17 at 11 am at Holy Infant Church in Durham.  In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to TROSA.
