James David Pendergrass

DURHAM – James David “Jimmy” Pendergrass, age 65, died at Duke University Medical Center on Wednesday, September 7, 2022. James was born on July 13, 1957 in Goldsboro, North Carolina. James is preceded in death by his parents, Luther Ervin and Mary Mullahey Pendergrass as well as his brother, George Ervin Pendergrass.

James is survived by his sisters, Susan Pendergrass, Mary (Walton) Sochacki, Carol (Clifford) Wheeless, and brother John (Jane) Pendergrass, as well as his nephews Michael, David, Luke and John, and niece Mary Jeannette “Little Mary.”

James attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Goldsboro, NC where he was an altar server and a member of Scouts of America.

James’ hobbies included fishing, bible study, and bingo. He was a huge fan of The Andy Griffith Show and enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley and Doris Day. James was most proud of being an uncle to his nephews and niece, that he wholeheartedly adored.

Friends may visit from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service & Crematory.

Graveside services will be held 11:30 AM on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Oakwood Cemetery in Hickory, NC.
