Ina Prevatte Deans

Ina Prevatte Deans, age 93, died peacefully at the Canterbury House in Roxboro on Tuesday, July 30, 2013. Ina was born in Robeson County to the late Foster F. and Ina Freeman Prevatte on June 9, 1920. Ina graduated from the Baker-Thompsoneemorial Hospital School of Nursing and later worked as a registered nurse at McPherson Hospital, Murdock Center, Durham Regional, and the VA Hospital. In 1987 she retired from the John Umstead Hospital in Butner. Ina was a member of Timberlake Baptist Church and the Redwood Senior Citizens Center. She is survived by her son, James Leonard Deans, Jr. of Timberlake, NC; her sister, Rebecca P. Jackson of St. Paul, NC; her three grandchildren, Jordan Blake Deans of Roxboro; Adam Tyler Deans, also of Roxboro; Wendy Michelle Boyle and husband, Todd, of Raleigh, NC; and one great grandson, Anderson Jacob Boyle. Ina was preceded ineeath by her husband, James Leonard Deans, Sr. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 3, from the Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, 1113 W. Main St. in Durham, with the Reverend Hal Dickerson presiding. Burial will follow in Woodlawneemorial Park. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
