H. Greg Hackney

Mr. Harvey Gregory "Greg" Hackney, 58, of Charlie Fields Road, Pittsboro, died Thursday, August 22, 2013 at the Laurels of Chatham. Greg was born in Chatham County on July 16, 1955, the son of William Taff Hackney and Vivian Emma Dixon Hackney. He was raised and lived in Bynum his entire life. Greg worked as a warehouse stockman UNC Hospitals before retiring after 30 years of service. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, on North Pea Ridge Road, in Pittsboro. Greg is survived by twin sons, Michael Anthony and Matthew Gregory Hackney, both of Pittsboro; a sister, Bobbie Dwiggins of Pittsboro; three brothers, George William, Glenn, and Ricky Hackney, all of Pittsboro; and also by a granddaughter, Laura Hackney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded ineeath by a sister, Brenda Johnson. The service celebrating the life of Greg Hackney will be conducted at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon, August 24, 2013, from the graveside at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Pastors Bob Wachs and John Covington will preside. Following the service, friends may visit with the family in the church fellowship hall.
