Geraldine Pickett Cates

Mrs. Geraldine Pickett Cates, 84, died December 27, 2011 at The Laurels of Chatham. Mrs. Cates was born in Durham on August 18, 1927, a daughter of Fred and Mattie Gooch Pickett. She was a homemaker, and a member of Mt. Pleasant Uneed Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cates was preceded ineeath by her husband, Carl Denver Cates; a grandson, Jeremy Cates; and a daughter-in-law, Pamela Farrell Cates. Surviving are a daughter, Cindy Creed of Pittsboro; sons, Michael Cates of Pittsboro, David Cates of Louisburg, and Randy Cates of Chapel Hill; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harry Pickett. The service for Mrs. Cates will be conducted by Pastor Chris Gambos at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, December 30, 2011, from the graveside at Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family following the service; and also at the residence of Cindy Creed.
