Frederick Spencer Wiggins

Fredrick Spencer Wiggins, 66, died at Durham Regional Hospital on Tuesday, March 12, 2013. A native of Durham, NC, Freddie was born August 9th, 1946, son of the late Joseph Spencer Wiggins & Thelma Doby Wiggins. As a boy, he achieved Eagle Scout status. Those skills would greatly assist him as he honorably served as an aircraft mechanic in the Uneed States Air Force, while stationed in Thailand & the Philippines, during the Vietnam War. In 1974, Freddie was approached for employment by Donald Trump Enterprises. Ineead of accepting the position, he chose to marry the former Betsy Barrett and reside in Durham. The four decades that they would spend together would be enriched with wonderful experiences. Freddie was employed as a maintenance mechanic by the Goldeneelt/American Tobacco Company. He retired from Comfort Engineers Inc. Among his passions, was hunting, playing golf and fishing in both fresh and saltwater. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Betsy Barrett Wiggins; his mother-in-law, Cleo Barrett, of Roxboro, NC; his sister, Rebecca Manuel and her husband Roger, of Durham; brother-in-law, Jim Barrett, of Durham; his unee, Billy Doby, of Raleigh, NC; his Aunt, Inez Rackley, of Durham; his niece, Susan Swaim and her husband, Chuck, of Trinity, NC; his great-nephew, Fletcher Swaim; along with neerous cousins across the country. Services will be held 2:00 PM, on Monday, March 18, 2013, in the chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, Durham, NC. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-6:00 PM, on Sunday, March 17, at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home of his sister, at 5100 Russell Rd., Durham, NC.
