Elizabeth "Lizzie" Dickerson Hicks

OXFORD: Elizabeth "Lizzie" Dickerson Hicks, age 97 a former resident of 529 Hillsboro Street died Saturday December 12, 2009 Treyburn Nursing Home. She was a native of Granville County and was the daughter of the late W. Odis and Lissie Kearney Dickerson. She was the widow of the late Ernest Hicks. She was a homemaker and was a member of West Oxford Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Monday December 14, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the Gentry-neell & Vaughan Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Wes Garner. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Surviving are two daughters, Mary H. Barger of Durham and Joyce H. Cash of Stem; a sister, Evelyn D. Evans of Oxford; a brother Bryant Dickerson of Raleigh; six grandchildren, nee great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. She was preceded ineeath by two sons, Henry R. Hicks and James E. "Hot Rod" Hicks, daughters Carrie, Baby Ann and Shirley. Also she was preceded ineeath by two brothers, Lineey Dickerson and Odis Dickerson, Jr.; sisters, Minee Ellington, Rosa Wilkerson, Rena Caulder, Eunee Hart, Beatrice Rhodes, Beulah Dalton and Pearl Hoyle.
