Edith Arnold Johnson

Edith Arnold Johnson, of Croasdaile Retirement Village, died Wednesday, December 6, following a brief illness. She was born June 25, 1916 to the late Herbert and Fanee Belle Arnold, and lived most of her life in Durham. Mrs. Johnson enjoyed 50 years of marriage to her late husband, Albert Richard Johnson. She was a long-time devoted member of Duke Memorial Uneed Methodist Church, where she was active in the altar guild, the annual bazaar and the Minee Gates Sunday School Class. She also ministered to shut-ins. Mrs. Johnson was a radiant and gracious southern lady, who adored her family. She loved the beach, arranging flowers and her involvement with the Garden Club. Surviving are her children, Albert R. Johnson and wife, Alice Ann, of Greensboro and Carol Johnson of Durham; her grandchildren, The Rev. Aneew William Johnson and wife, Michaella, of Durham and Dr. Edith Elizabeth Johnson and husband, Jason Overall, of Indianapolis; and great grandchildreneemma Lee and Kerri Elizabeth Johnson. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday in Duke Memorial Uneed Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Paul Leeland and the Rev. Jim Bell officiating. Friends will be received following the service. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718 Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
