Dorothy Mae Moore Barker

Chapel Hill: Dorothy Mae Moore Barker, age 86, died Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Wynwood Brookdale Senior Living in Chapel Hill. A native of Granville County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph J. and Ethel Mangum Moore and widow of the late Frank A. Barker, Jr. Dorothy was a retired registered nurse, a former residence of the Grassy Creek community in Granville County, a former resident of Hollywood, FL and has been a resident of Chapel Hill since 2001. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 pm, Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Grassy Creek Baptist Church by Reverend Woodrow Freeze. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 pm prior to the service at the church. Surviving is her daughter, Deborah K. Balsamo of Chapel Hill; her sons, Stephen L. Barker of Greenville, TN and Frank A. Barker, III of Charlotte; 7 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Paige Moore Barker and a sister Rosa Leigh McKinney.
