Clyde H. Hicks

Oxford, N.C. - Clyde Hoey Hicks, age 83, died peacefully at his home surrounded by family on June 24, 2019. He was the son of the late Frank Loren Hicks and Dulcie Satterwhite Hicks. Clyde was a loving son, brother, husband, unee, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Clyde was born on Culbreth Road in the Berea community of Granville County and lived there his entire life.?? He graduated from Berea High School and married the love of his life, Eunida Welch. Clyde retired from IBM in 1992. He enjoyed solving the newspaper Crossword, Sudoku, and Cryptoquote daily and rarely missed an episode of Jeopardy. Sports were one of his many passions. He was an avid golfer and loved his time on the golf course. He liked spending time working on machinery, working in the yard aneexploring with his loyal companion Gus the German Shepherd. Clyde loved nature, being outdoors, and spending time on the Tar River where he learned to swim at a very young age in ???the deep hole???. Clyde is survived by his wife of 63 years, Eunida; his children, Larry (Denee) Hicks, Roger (Emily) Hicks, Ann Kathryn (Mike) Daniels and Jeffrey (Beverly) Hicks; his sister, Betsy H. Garrett and brother, Victor Hicks. Clyde has nee loving grandchildren: Amanda H. (John) Ulrich, Lydia H. (Lance) Martin, Michael (Kaitlin) Hicks, Stephanie H. (Chase) Wellford, Adam Hicks, Natalie H. (Jordan) Chaneer, Harrison Hicks, Troy Daniels, Abigail Hicks and six adoring great-grandchildren: Layla Ulrich, Nash Martin, Callie Martin, Campbell Wellford, Olivia Hicks and Holdeneellford. He will be deeply missed by many family and friends. Clyde was predeceased by his siblings: Jack Arrington, Maude H. Cates, Lois H. Woodlief, Doris H. Fogleman, Frank ???Tunny??? Hicks and Lindburgh Hicks. The family would like to thank the staff of Duke Hospital, The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center, Duke HomeCare & Hospice aneespecially Dr. Dina Randazzo. A visitation will be for family and friends from 1:30 pm to 2:45 pm on Friday, June 28, 2019, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church fellowship hall.?? A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm in the sanctuary officiated by Rev. Keith Williams and Rev. Tim Atkinson. Burial will follow the service at Mt.
