Catherineelizabeth Clay Aunt Janie

Catherineelizabeth Clay "Aunt Janie" , 95 of Durham passed away Monday, May 20, 2013 at Croasdaile Pavilion. A native of Granville County she was the daughter of the late John Arch Clay and Vivianeeavis Clay. She was a member of Asbury Uneed Methodist Church of Durham. She is a graduate of UNC where she received her Master's Degree in Education. During her career she was a high school counselor at Southern High School in Durham, NC. She later went on to become the Director of Counseling of Durham Public Schools. Aunt Janie had no children of her own, but she was a loving aunt and treated her nieces and nephews as her very own. She was a very outgoing person that loved to travel. Talking to people became natural to her, therefore, becoming a great friend to many and loved by all. Aunt Janie was preceded ineeath by John Arch Clay Jr., Cynthia Clay Alexander, Edith Clay Perdue, Margaret Clay Smart, and Benjamineeavis Clay. She is survived by a sister, Julia Clay Elliott of Durham and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Friends may visit from 6-8pm Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service. Graveside services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery in Oxford, NC. A memorial service at the Few Chapel at Croasdaile Village will be held at a later date.
