Chapel Hill, NC ??? Mr. Burton Stanley Kopaskie, Jr, 60, formerly of Orchard Park, NY, died Monday, September 26, 2016 at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. Burt was born ineewburgh, NY the son of the late Burton Stanley Kopaskie, Sr., and Grace Delores Carfizzi Kopaskie of Walden, NY. He was a graduate of Syracuse Uneersity. He was employed in the construction industry, he worked for many years with L & L Painting, Co. Inc. and Safespan Scaffolding and Platform Systems. Prior to that, he was employed with Birdair, where he traveled the world, involved in roof construction for many sports aneentertainment venues, including the Millennium Dome in London. Burt was a loving husband and father who enjoyed cooking for his family, his fried chicken was a family favorite. He was passionee about his NY Giants, Rangers and Mets. He enjoyed working with his hands, always in the midst of a project. He enjoyed gardening, constantly having battles with the deer who were always eating his tomatoes. Spending time with his family was always his first priority. Burt is survived by his wife of 37 years, Patricia A. (Sherry) Kopaskie of the home; his two children, Karyl S. Kopaskie of Chicago, IL, and Burton S. Kopaskie, III, of Tonawanda, NY; brothers, Stan Kopaskie, and his wife, Diane, of Hernando Beach, FL, Mark Kopaskie, and his wife, Mary, of Corona Del Mar, CA, Joe Kopaskie, and his wife, Diane, of Charlotte, NC, sisters, Joann Andradez, and her husband, Ralph, of Melbourne, FL, Eileeneelanger, and her husband, Dick, of Chapel Hill, NC, Faith Salchert of Carlsbad, CA, Anee Wesner of Marlboro, NY, Mary Kopaskie-Brown, and her husband, Will Brown, of San Diego, CA; brother-in-law, Bill Lennon of Marlboro, NY; 22 nieces and nephews; and 11 great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Burt was preceded ineeath by his sisters, Rose Adele Kopaskie and Diane Carol Lennon. A mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 8:30 am at Holy Infant Catholic Church, 5000 Southpark Drive, Durham, NC 27713. Officiating will be Rev. Robert M. Rutledge, OSFS. The family will receive visitors Friday evening from 5:00 ??? 7:00 pm at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, 1113 W. Main Street, Durham, NC 27701. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude???s Children???s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105. www.stjude.org.
