DURHAM: Betty P. Williamson Bookman passed away July 4 at home after a courageous seveneear battle with ovarian cancer. She was born August 15, 1936 ineerona, NC Onslow County to the late Elmon James aneeva H. Pollard. Betty graduated from Dixon High School in 1954 and married Robert Lee Williamson of Durham, August 11, 1957. Following Robert's death on July 10, 1999, she married Paul K. Bookman, Sr. March 5, 2005. Betty retired from the Private Diagnostic Clinic at Duke Medical Center after 41 years of service, and at the time, held the position of Maneer of the PDC payroll. She was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church for 40 years and served as Sunday School Secretary for 25 years before health problems forced her to retire from church service. Betty is survived by her husband, Paul K. Bookman, Sr.; her children, Lisa W. Phillips of Timberlake, Robert Lee Williamson, Jr. and wife, Betty of Durham, and Ashley James Williamson and wife, Sonya of Troy; her grandchildren: Tonja husband, Jed Womble, Brandi Bullock husband, Justin, Robert Phillips, Stephen Phillips, Adam Williamson, Mason Williamson, and Jane Cameron Williamson; great grandchildren: Jace and Kale Womble; a sister Helen Turner husband, Leo of Jacksonville; a brother, Troy Pollard and wife, Patricia of Charlotte; a stepbrother, Aneew Garner of Rockwell; step-children; Paul Kent Bookman Jr, wife, Kimberly of Franklin Co.; Elizabeth Jean Aquino husband, Joe of Houston, TX; Deanna Lynn Barrett husband, Tony of Rougemont; step-grandchildren: Matthew, Michael, aneelissa Aquino, Kirsten Bookman and Chelsea Barrett. In addition to her first husband, Robert, Betty was pre-deceased by step-mothers, Bessie F. Pollard and Peachie Pollard. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday from Olive Branch Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tim Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard.
