Benjamin Clayton "Clay" Gentry

Benjamin Clayton Gentry, 27, died on February 1, 2019 at his residence. Clay was the son of Benjamin Autry Gentry, Jr. of Oxford and Gina Clayton Gentry Allgood (Donnie) of Henderson. He was born on July 17, 1991 in Vance County and he was a graduate of J.F. Webb High School.

Clay is survived by his parents; one brother, Christopher Lee Boone; two sisters, Carly Andrea Perkinson and Callie Brooke Perkinson; his grandparents, Betty Lou Wilkerson Gentry and the late Benjamin Autry Gentry, Sr. of Oxford, NC and Mary Helen Finch and the late Gilbert Lee Clayton of Henderson, NC. Clay is also survived by his aunts, Glenda Bragg, Jill Bettenhausen and Tracey Clayton; along with his cousins Alex Bragg, Cole Bettenhausen and Laura Bettenhausen. He is also survived by his stepfather, Andy Perkinson of Henderson. He will be greatly missed by numerous loving family members and friends.

Clay loved his family and had a heart of gold. He enjoyed fishing, going to the beach, working out, a good game of UNC basketball and working with his hands.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 1:30 pm at Oxford United Methodist Church, Oxford, NC and will be officiated by Reverend Jenny Wilson and the Reverend Marshall Neathery.

The family will receive visitors from 12:30 to 1:30 pm on Thursday in the Fellowship Hall of the church. A private committal will be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that acts of kindness and love be shared with others in the memory of Clay.
