Natural (Green) Burial
Natural or “Green Burial” resembles the age-old practice of burying the dead directly into the earth with minimal intervention in body preparation and without the usual maintenance regulations of manicured cemeteries/memorial parks. The body can be prepared without chemical preservatives and is buried in a simple shroud or biodegradable casket. Natural burial is an environmentally sustainable alternative to customary funeral practices, where the body is returned directly to the earth to decompose on its own. Beyond environmental awareness, many people discover greater meaning in the rituals related to this alternative with more intimate family participation. Green cemeteries honor the beauty of the natural landscape without the embellishment of commercial graveyards.
Hall-Wynne and Gentry-Newell & Vaughan are approved providers by the Green Burial Council. As such we:
- Accommodate home vigils
- Allow for the families of decedents to have the option of a public viewing and funeral ceremony at which the deceased is present.
- Make available the sanitation and preservation of a decedent with the use of noninvasive techniques/materials
