Condolence from Megan Eckenrode on August 6th, 2009 12:00 am

Dear Powell Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. We will miss her dearly in the library. When I first interviewed for the library job, I saw all red NC State in her office. I wanted to walk the other way because I graduated from Carolina. But as I soon found out, we had many things in common: hating Duke. My love goes out to Bobby, Robbie, and her family.

Bobby and Family,
I am so sorry to hear of Monique’s passing. Over the years I have always remembered her strong will to do anything and nothing was too big for her. She will always have a special place in my heart. God has his arms wrapped around her now and she will be looking down on you and her family. Her spirit will always live in you. To know the correct words to say is unknown, but anyone that knew you knew there was a great love for each other. I will never forget your wedding. She touched so many lives and made a difference in so many people, what more than the woman she was to remember. Let God lead the way. He has all the answers we just have to put our faith in him and trust him. May peace always be with you and your family.

May God surround all of you – Monique’s family – in a very special way. I was a classmate of Monique’s from fourth grade at Orange Street Elementary through my junior year at JF Webb. I treasure the memories of her love for life, her incredible smile and the way that she always cared for those around her. I pray that God will carry each member of Monique’s family through these days and remind us that as believers in Jesus Christ, we will be reunited in Heaven. Blessings to you and deepest condolences.

Condolence from Bobby Powell on August 12th, 2009 12:00 am

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who signed this guest book. Monique was a very special lady to me for thirty three and half years. We dated as high school sweethearts and got married after college. We were almost married for twenty-six years. We had a beautiful marriage and a wondeful son. She will be missed dearly. Once again, many thanks for thinking and keeping Robbie, Monique’s family and me in your prayers and thoughts.
