Mary Leonard Broadwell Doucette, 90, died on Friday, December 26, 2008. She is the daughter of the late Cornelia Suggs and Shephard Dowd Broadwell and was born on February 5, 1918.
Mary was born in Goldsboro and then relocated to Durham as a young adult where she has remained ever since. Mary’s greatest joy was found in the time and care that she spent with her beloved family. She showed endless love nobility as she gave all of her time and talents to the nurturing and care of her husband and children. Mary worked hard to develop those talents that would serve her family best. She was an incredibly gifted seamstress as she made much of the clothing for her children when they were young. Mary was also an amazing cook that found so much pleasure in preparing a good meal for her family. All things that Mary did, she did for the betterment and greatness of her family. She will be greatly missed but always loved.

Doucette and wife Coleen of Durham; grandchildren Sylvia Bennett; Anita Johnson; Mary Katherine Thompson David Moore, II; Michael Doucette; and Maryanne Doucette; great-grandchildren Trey Bennett; Ashley Johnson; Lauren Johnson; and Aiden Doucette; nieces Jane Ballard and Cindy Ballard.
