Mary Cottrell Grissom Clifford, 92 a resident of Oxford died Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Brantwood Nursing Center. She was a native of Granville Co., and was the daughter of the late John W. and Cora Fuller Cottrell. She was the widow of Robert L. Grissom, Sr. and Mahlon Clifford. Mary was a member of Marrows Chapel United Methodist Church, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at the Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Chapel by Rev. Chad Holtz and Rev. Floyd Marrow. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Surviving is her daughter, Linda G. Polacheck and husband Bob of Naples Fl; daughter- law Kaye F. Grissom of Zebulon; brother, Lennie Cottrell and wife Mildred of Lake Park, Fl.; step-daughters, Mary Frances Abbott and husband James of Oxford and Ann Langston and husband Carlton of Timmonsville, SC; step-sons, Mahlon Clifford, Jr. and wife Marian of Chapel Hill and John Clifford and wife Bobbie of Oxford; grandchildren, Lynn Allred and husband Henry of Oxford, David Hughes and wife Holly of Zebulon and Rob Grissom of Wilmington; ten step-grandchildren, three great grandchildren, nineteen step-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Mary was preceded in death by a son, Robert L. Grissom, Jr., a sister, Nellie Morgan and a brother, Robert Cottrell.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:30 PM Monday night at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home.
