Condolence from Jane Bahor on July 13th, 2010 12:00 am

Dear Van, Jeremy and Olivia,

You wife and mamma was a very special person and she loved you guys the most. I have wonderful memories of working, teaching, laughing and crying with Lynn. Did you know we played soft ball together wayyyy back in the day? It was the PDC womens softball team.

I also remember how thrilled I was when you guys joined Aldersgate. Jeremy must have been 4 or 5 and Livy just a tiny tot.

Jeremy, do you remember playing T
-Ball with Ned? Ya’ll were really cute and we adults had some great laughs watching you both learn to run bases and try to hit the ball.

Lynn made Sunday School such fun too. We had a great time with you kids in Sr.High SS. It made me really appreciate her patience and sense of humor.

I will never forget Lynn and her funny little smile and her big, big heart.

All my love, Mamma Bahor

Dear Van, Jeremy and Olivia,

I still have not gotten over the shock of hearing of Lynn’s passing this morning. I am so sorry for your loss and I wish that I could have seen her or said goodbye to her. I have missed our friendship over the last 13 years since I left Duke. She was very special to me and we shared so much in common from the same birthday to sports and children. She was like a sister to me and I will never forget the amazing woman that she was. May you find comfort is knowing that she was a child of God and she is resting peacefully in her heavenly home now. I will be thinking of you all and praying that you find peace in the coming days.

Condolence from Robin Baily on July 14th, 2010 12:00 am

As a co-worker of Van’s he is the person I am focusing on when I say that there can be no doubt that our God is a great God. In His wisdom and plan He paired Van and Lynn together, to have and to share Life. And He makes all things good for those who love him and are called according to His purpose. Van, please take comfort in knowing how blessed Lynn was – and no doubt felt – because of you and your steadfast strength and faith in God, and His work happening through you. Better times will come. I am very sorry that Van and the Anderson and Efland families have lost Lynn. She is with our Lord.

Condolence from Karen D. Price on July 15th, 2010 12:00 am

I wanted to write and tell you how sorry I am for your loss. There are never the right words to express how deeply sad one is that you have to endure such loss. Lynn will be truly missed by everyone who knew her no matter where they crossed her path in life.
Lynn was a giver, never a taker. She was always there to help and trust me in my first years here at Duke she helped me a lotno matter how busy she was; no matter the time of day; and, never asking or needing anything in return.
Friends like Lynn are few in life and it is with a heavy heart that I also grieve with your loss.
Her friendship was very special to me, and I couldn’t have asked for a more genuine friend than Lynn. Memories of Lynn’s kindness, compassion and gentle spirit will be forever held dear to me. May your memories bring you comfort in the days ahead.

Condolence from Donna Noblitt on July 15th, 2010 12:00 am

I know that you all have suffered a great loss. While no words of mine can ease your loss, I just wanted you to know that I am grieving with you and thinking about you constantly. I want to express to you my most heartfelt sympathy. I hope that you can find comfort in the many special memories and in the thought of the happy years that you all shared. Please know that you all are very much in my thoughts and prayers at this time of sorrow. May the love of family and friends comfort and strengthen you all in the days ahead. I love you all very much, Donna

My sister Marlene called to let me know of Lynn’s passing. I’m so sorry to hear this. I thought back of the days that we went skating together when Bobby/Billy ran the skating rink and the fun we had. There’s a song that says a lot in it’s chorus… “If you only knew, I’m just going home, your prayers have been answered, my sickness is gone. May God bless you all as you go through this difficult time.
