Linda Lou (Crews) Kearns

June 7, 2016 By Hall-Wynne 8 Condolences

Michigan – Linda Lou (Crews) Kearns died on June 5, 2016 at the Pines of Clarkston in Clarkston, MI at the age of 78. Linda was born to the late Thurmon and Josie (Phillips) Crews on August 30, 1937.

Linda was a faithful member of Bethany UMC in Durham, NC where she was actively involved in the Wednesday Morning Circle. She was a faithful supporter of Durham Crisis Response Center and the Urban Ministries of Durham. Linda was an avid gardener. She could grow anything; a trait she inherited from her father. For 21 years, Linda worked as a Teacher’s Aide at Hillandale School in Durham.

Linda is survived by her sons; Gary Kearns (Lisa) of Durham, NC, and Greg Kearns (Teresa) of Clearwater, FL, her daughter; Kelly Kaza (Marty) of Lake Orion, MI, her sister; Barse Danford (Ray) of Enterprise, AL, her grandchildren; Lauren Kearns Dawood (Guss), Brooke Kearns, Myles Kearns, and Shauna Parker, and her great-grandchild, Alexus Maples. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 51 years, Robert Kearns.

A visitation will be held at Bethany UMC in Durham, NC on Thursday, June 9, 2016 from 1-1:30 p.m. A funeral service to honor her life will follow with the Rev. Julia Webb-Bowden officiating. Interment will then proceed to Maplewood Cemetery in Durham.

Flowers are welcomed, but the family would appreciate donations to the Bethany UMC Building Fund or to the Lewy Body Association in Linda’s memory.

The Kearns family is under the care of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service. Online condolences: www.hallwynne.com, select obituaries.

Greg, Gary and Kelly I am so sorry for your loss. Linda was my dearest and best friend for 50 years and I have missed her so much over the last few years. I am comforted that she is no longer in any pain and suffering and has been reunited with Bob. She was a very unique person.

I loved all of you as if you were my kids and Linda felt the same about ours.

    Love and Blessings

    Floyd and Pat

I enjoyed 18 wonderful years working with Linda and treasure every moment we spent together! Linda was an”Angel” not only to me but to hundreds of children at Hillandale School who experienced her compassion and love for them. Much love, many prayers and deepest sympathy to all of the Kearns family at this difficult time.

Keeping you all in my prayers. What a wonderful gift to have grown up with Linda as my neighbor. I have so many happy memories of her and time spent at your house or the lake together. She is sorely missed, but I thank God that I was blessed to be touched by her as I was. May God hold you all close. Love you! Lori
