To the family of Kirk Allred, I am so sorry for your loss. I met Kirk while working at UNC Chapel Hill. He was always smiling and was one of the most friendly and outgoing people that I have ever met. My mother, Ethel Milliken worked for Mr. & Mrs. Allred and babysat for Kirk and Kyle. She has very fond memories of the Allred family. I was very shocked to hear about Kirk’s sudden death but God decided to pluck a flower and take a special flower home with him. Your family will be in my prayers.

Condolence from Michele Clark on February 4th, 2009 12:00 am

Dear Allred family, Please accept my heartfelt condolences on Kirk’s passing. I’m the telecom coordinator for the UNC Dept. of Radiology and found out from a coworker this morning. I worked with him many times over the past few years, and am so saddened to hear this news. There are so many people in our department who knew him because he helped move their phones and faxes. Just in those brief encounters, he was so pleasant and likable that everyone came to really like him. They all have expressed their grief and shock to me. He will be sorely missed–always friendly and helpful–one of the nicest guys I worked with. My prayers are with you! Michele Clark

Condolence from Karla D. Martinez on February 4th, 2009 12:00 am

Kyle and Kent,
When Bryan told me that Kirk had past away my heart skipped a beat. Your family has always been a part of mine. I have the best memories of Kirk and the nursery growing up. Tot was like a second mother and Kirk a brother. I am not able to travel to be there physically but know that I will be with you spiritually. I will keep you both in my prayers. Kirk will be truly missed.

Condolence from Lee Edmark on February 4th, 2009 12:00 am

I have to admit that I didn’t really know Kirk all that well….even though I was a colleague of his during his time here at UNC.

For a brief time….maybe 2-years or so….my office was directly adjacent to Kirk’s work-space.

During that time….I learned of Kirk’s fondness for fresh-picked home-grown tomatoes….because he seemed to bring them to work almost every day during tomato season.

This I can tell you…

Kirk never ever failed to offer me fresh slices of his tomatoes when he and I both happened to be at our desks at the same time during lunch-time.

That memory of simple unfailing kindness will live with me as a memory of Kirk.

I’ll miss him…

lee

Condolence from Sam Deal on February 4th, 2009 12:00 am

Kirk was such a wonderful person. He had a contagious spunk and sense of humor about him that would force you to smile on even your worst of days. What I remember most about him was his undying love for his family. Selfless, when Kirk lost his sister he was consumed with making sure his beloved family knew that he would be there to ease some of their pain. He always put those around him, before himself. He always spoke highly of his siblings, as well as his brother-in-law. My thoughts and prayers go out the Allred family and those whom he held so high. Kirk, you will be missed buddy.

Condolence from Danny Stubbs on February 4th, 2009 12:00 am

Condolence from Jeff House on February 4th, 2009 12:00 am

Kent & Kyle
I’m so sorry about Kirk. I have many good memories of “the good ole days” when we use to hang out. I ran into Kirk a couple years ago in Pittsboro. Same ole Kirk. That sense of humor and his same ole smile. The Allred family has gone through a lot over the years. Know that your family is in my prayers. I know Kirk will be truly missed. Rest In Peace Kirk.

Condolence from Catherine MacAllister on February 4th, 2009 12:00 am

At the funeral today, several people spoke of Kirk’s fondness for animals. As his neighbor, I saw that part of him every day. My big yellow dog loved to chase Kirk’s loud truck. Kirk knew that she’d be waiting for him, so he always drove veeeery slowly until he passed our house and he knew that she was out of harm’s way. He was so friendly, too–he always gave a big wave and two short beeps of the horn when he saw me walking on the road. I never realized that I waited to hear his truck each afternoon until it stopped driving by. He’ll be missed…

Condolence from Karen S. on February 5th, 2009 12:00 am

He loved spending time with you both and wished that you spent more time together. To Kirk: you were a big part of my life for the last 20 years-a constant beacon of love and friendship to me! Kirk was a great friend. I only knew him for a short time but our friendship was growing fast. Kirk always gave me either a hand shake or a hug with a big smile. I will never forget the day i was sitting in the car and he came up to me giving me a hand shake and said “I love you like a brother” as tears almost started falling down his face. Condolence from Chelsea Green on February 9th, 2009 12:00 am

I only knew Kirk for a short amount of time. He came into my life when my family was going through a lot of pain. Some how he was able to heal it. Kirk Allred made my mother the happiest I had seen her in years and provided for and loved my sisters. Although, I was too selfish to see it I now know that he had a gift from God that only a few people are blessed with. It has truly been a blessing to have met him. I wish I would have spent more time with him but I know that I will see him again one day.

Losing those dear to us can be very trying. Life is so precious and can sometimes be shorter than expected. But as long as we know God has bigger and better plans for our loved ones, we can be content to know they are where they are now needed. Kirk showed others kindness, he now has his wings and is free.

May the blessings of God and the kind words from others carry you through the rough times ahead, may you have peace in your hearts.
