Condolence from Robert H. Foster on June 1st, 2009 12:00 am

Dear Robin and Julie,

I want you to know that you are in my prayers as was Jerry during his sad illness. He meant so much to me. No longer than I knew him I felt like he was a very close friend. He had a wonderful talent for finding a way to take a bad situation and make it go away. Jerry always stopped by office every morning and said “Hey Bob” or “Good Morning” with that big wide smile of his. He made me remember that I had a sense of humor and it was alright to use it and still be taken seriously. God has a special place at his side for Jerry because those seats are only saved for the very best! I know Jerry had a wonderful life because he told me many times how much he loved you Robin and all of his grand children. I wanted you to know that he did a lot of good things that changed many peoples lives not just mine. I’ve heard a lot of good stories! Let those beautiful children of yours know it’s alright to be silly and serious and to love people like Jerry did. I really am going to miss Jerry as a member of my team and even more as a FRIEND.

Your friend – Robert H. Foster

It saddened me to receive the news of Jerry’s passing but I know he is in a better place smiling down on all of us. I met Jerry at work a few years ago and I can honestly say that I NEVER saw him not smiling. He always had a kind, geniune word to speak. He will be greatly missed among the IBM family…..

To the loved ones of Jerry,

Please accept my sincerest condolences to the loss of such a wonderful person as Jerry. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting him personally, we shared many long conversations over the phone over the past 10 years. I always thought of Jerry as a friend and not just a voice on the other end of the phone. I could feel his smile and always felt very comfortable talking with him. I was extremely saddened to hear of his illness and his passing. May you know that he is in a better place now. May your memories keep him in your hearts and minds. He will be missed.

Jerry was my other dad. He’s the reason my dad was ok letting me purchase my own home. Somehow if Jerry was across the way hanging out with Bryan on the porch, then it was ok for me to own my own home. I miss him. I miss the stories. But I learned a lot and I’ll do my best to look out for the neighborhood.

Chuck, I am so very sorry to hear of the passing of your brother and a childhood friend. He was a very likeable funny person. Always saying hello going down the halls or in the classes we had together at Northern. I thought about him throughout the years. He will be missed. God be with you and your family during this very very sad time. Hold onto the memories.

Watch out for Mr. No-Shoulders as you travel along your new journeys….

“Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.”
