Posted By Hall-Wynne On April 7, 2011 @ 12:00 am In Obituaries | No Comments

Jason Keith Maynor, 39, died Thursday, April 7, 2011, at UNC Memorial Hospital. Jason was born in Durham County but grew up in Northern Chatham County and attended Pittsboro Schools, graduating in 1990 from Northwood High School.

Mr. Maynor was born September 26, 1971, the son of Pearl Thomas Maynor and the late Homer Wilson Maynor of Chapel Hill. In addition to his mother, survivors include his sister Robin Maynor May and husband, Brian, of Pittsboro; brothers Bart Maynor and wife, Su, of Chapel Hill; and Jeff Maynor and wife, Terri, of Chapel Hill; and six nieces and nephews.

Jason was an automobile paint finisher for several years before entering the Army in 2003 where he served his country honorably for four years. He received the Combat Action Badge for serving under direct hostile fire during combat operation in Iraq while serving with the 172d Stryker Brigade Combat Team. Sergeant Maynor was honorably discharged in May, 2007. Jason was proud to have served his country while in the U. S. Army. Following his military service, he was active in the American Legion, Post 6, and was a member of the VFW Post 9100; both of Chapel Hill.

Jason loved nature and was an avid fisherman. He once wrote that we needed to respect nature because we were a part of it; to live life to the fullest, love it, and be thankful you have one to live.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 9, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Hall-Wynne Funeral Home in Pittsboro, NC. The Funeral will be held Sunday, April 10, 3:00 p.m., at Mt. Thank you Jason for your service in the US Army; it did not go unnoticed.

I pray for your mother to be able to come to peace with her loss.

I ask God to guide her, your sister & your brothers as they walk this part of your journey.

They say to live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.

You will continue to live in hearts of many.

My sincere condolences to the Maynor family

I worked with Jason back in Cary at a small hole in the wall bodyshop. I’m very sorry for the loss to his family. I’m proud to see where he served our coutry during the time since I last talked with him. We didn’t really keep up with each other but he will be missed and always remembered by me.
