James C. Dodson, Jr.

DURHAM- James C. Dodson, Jr., age 87, died July 31, 2014 at Hock Family Pavilion. J.C. was born June 10, 1927 in Durham County, to the late James Clyde Dodson, Sr. and Vonnie Blackman Dodson.

J.C. graduated Braggtown High School in 1945. After serving proudly in the U.S. Navy during WW II; J.C. graduated Kennedy Business College. He was of the Methodist faith and loved to read. J.C. retired as supervisor of export department after 40 years from the American Tobacco Company.

J.C. is survived by his wife of 65 years, Grace Stacy Dobson; his son, Michael Gary Dodson (Meghan) of New York; two brothers, Rhodes Dodson of Charlotte; Robert Dodson of Seven Devils, NC; one sister, Janet Knott of Oxford; one grandson, Walter Dodson; and several nieces and nephews.

The family thanks Dr. David Bright and Dr. Theodore Shaikewitz for their care and support.

Memorial contributions may be made to Durham Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 11858, Durham, NC 27703.

Friends may visit from 4:00pm 6:00pm Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service.

Graveside services will be held 12:00 noon Monday, August 4, 2014 at Maplewood Cemetery with the Rev. Ralph Harrell and Rev. Dr. Hugh McKinley.

    Grace, Rhodes .Robert. Janet and family……So sorry to read obituary re: JC…I never knew him as well as I did the rest of you, but always found him to be a pleasant man….You have my deepest sympathy and I will always love the Dodson family….Your Mom and Dad brought us to GRBC and I am still there. Norman passed away in 2008 and I can tell you it is hard….Grace, May the Lord bless an keep you…..I will always love the Dodson family…..Sincerely. Doris Hawley.
