Apex, North Carolina – Hall Franklin Birdsong, Jr., 84, died April 12, 2019, at Transitions LifeCare Center in Raleigh, North Carolina, surrounded by his loving daughters. A native of Suffolk, he was the son of the late Elizabeth West Birdsong and Hall Franklin Birdsong. Mr. Birdsong is a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was a life long member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Suffolk where he served as Chairman of the Board. He served as Chairman of the Suffolk Planning Commission, was Exalted Ruler of the Suffolk Elks Club, and was a former Member of the Suffolk Rotary Club.
He is predeceased by his wife, Barbara Wygal Birdsong, his sister Betty Joyner and her husband Dick Joyner. He is survived by his daughters, Sharyn Flintoff and husband Bob of Suffolk, Jennifer Birdsong of Apex, NC, Libby Bulkin and husband Ken of Apex, NC and Martha Trapani and husband Ed of Norfolk, Virginia; grandchildren Bobby, Thomas and Kate Flintoff, Betsy, Aidan and Jackson Bulkin and Annie Trapani; nieces Nancy Stewart, Elizabeth Taylor and husband Jeff, and nephew Rick Joyner and wife, Beth.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at a date yet to be determined.
