Dear Eleanor and family,

I did not know why at the time, but you have been so very much in my thoughts and prayers for the last couple of weeks. I had wanted to call you, but felt in my heart that it was just not the right time. I had asked a friend of mine in Oxford this past summer to please let me know if your husband and father was called to his eternal home. I received the call on Thursday. I then realized why you had been so much in the forefront of my thoughts. My very deepest sympathy to you and your family. I never had the pleasure of meeting your son, but am so glad to have had the opportunity to get to know Barbara and Keaton. You all have already been through a very difficult journey and will now embark on a very different journey that I know all too well. I am so sorry that my circumstances did not allow me to come to Oxford today, but I will be calling you soon. Please know how very much all of you will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers in the upcoming days, weeks and months during this most difficult time. In love and sympathy, Amelia
