Evie Kathryn Judge

February 28, 2010 By Hall-Wynne Leave a Condolence

Miss Evie Kathryn Judge, 7 year old daughter of Adam and Emily Thomas Judge, of Pittsboro, went from being an earthly angel to a heavenly angel on Sunday night, February 28, 2010 after waging a courageous fight against brain tumors.

Evie was born in UNC Hospitals on January 19, 2003 and had bravely and fearlessly fought cancer since her first brain tumor at 19 months of age, another at age 6, and her most recent one just over 4 days ago. She lived her entire life in Chatham County. Evie enjoyed learning and loved school as a first grader at Pittsboro Elementary. Although her time here was brief, her zest for life impacted those around her and in her community tremendously. She loved playing outside with her friends and sidewalk chalk with her “Poppy”. Evie liked to draw and color, watching Spongebob, loved going to the beach, and always enjoyed going out to eat at Virlie’s on Friday night.

Surviving, in addition to her parents Adam and Emily, are Evie’s grandparents Rusty and Sharon Thomas and Kay Judge all of Pittsboro; great-grandparents Marie Mitchell and Gladys Thomas of Pittsboro; aunts and uncles Kady and Philip Nearing of Denver, CO and Aimee and Matt Allred of Summerfield; and cousins Jacob and Luke Nearing, Lindsey and Thomas Wheeler and Jake Allred. Preceding Evie in death were great-grandfathers Bob Mitchell and Julian Thomas.

Evie’s life will be celebrated at 2:00 pm Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Emmaus Baptist Church with Pastors Chris Gambos and Steve Moore presiding. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family in the church fellowship hall following the service.

Online condolences may be sent to www.hallwynne.com, Select “Obituaries”.

Memorials may be sent to either the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, 302 Ridgefield Ct., Asheville, NC 28860 donations@www.ptbfus.org or to the
NC Children’s Promise, Campus Box 7220, Chapel Hill, NC 27599-7220.

Arrangements for Miss Judge are under the care of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service of Pittsboro.

Emily, Adam, Sharon, Rusty, Marie and rest of family. It is so sad to hear of the news. I never got to meet her but knew the rest of the family from Emmaus. It seems so unfair when you lose a child, we can feel your hurt as we have gone through it ourselves. Just hold onto the memories you have of her and cherish every minute that you were able to spend with her here on earth. As you said she was an earthly angel but now has gone on to her heavenly home to be your heavenly angel. From what everyone has told me about her she was a true fighter until the end, and you can rest assured she will be free from all sickness and pain with her Savior and Lord Jesus. May God help you through this difficult time and its very true time makes it easier to deal with but you never forget. You all are in our thoughts and prayers.God Bless each of you.

I continually lift you and the rest of the family up in prayer. I have since I heard about Evie last Thursday. What a blessing you’ve already been to me, to see the strength in you that can only come from God. Your lives are a testimony of your living faith in Jesus Christ. the Bible says that we should come to Christ as a little child…with child-like faith…Little Evie was here for a purpose. God had a plan for her before she was ever conceived. She had that child-like faith…love God with all your heart and love others. You will never know how many lives she touched. May many come to know Christ as their Savior because of her testimony and because of yours. I love you both and I’m here for you always. Cindy

    Adam and Emily,

Words cannot express the sorrow I feel for your loss. I sincerely hope that sharing the pain helps you bear it that little bit more. My daughter was also born in 2003, and I vow to give her an extra hug in memory of your sweet Evie. From the description in the obituary, they sound similar in nature.
Please have faith that she is in the best place possible and no longer fearing the pain the tumors caused for her and for you. She is her complete self now and forever your guardian. Honor her by keeping the happy memories closest and know you’ll be one with her again one day.
Take care and live one day at a time.

    Kathy

    Dearest Emily & Adam –
While we have never met, I have followed Evie’s story on Caring Bridge. There are no words to express my sympathy for you. The night Evie crossed to Heaven, my son & I prayed for her, looking up at that great full moon…Little did we know that light would lead her Home. Now, we like to think there is a new Star in Heaven, & she is shining on us forevermore. May God hold you in His arms & surround you with Peace. You & your precious child will never be far from my thoughts. With love & sympathy…
