Eunice A. Varner

Eunice A. Varner, native and long time resident of Asheville, went Home to be with the Lord on October 31, 2010 at the Care Home of the Pittsboro Christian Village following a lengthy illness. She was 86 years of age.

Miss Varner graduated from Lee Edwards High School in 1941. She retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital in Oteen in 1980 where she served as an administrative aide in the Rehabilitation Unit.
Following her retirement she did volunteer work for the Land-of-Sky Regional Council where she was honored on a number of occasions for her dedication and the excellence of her work, as Volunteer of the Year.

Miss Varner was a life time member of the Ashville Gospel Chapel where she served in numerous capacities including Sunday School teaching and leadership of the AWANA program.

Miss Varner was preceded in death by her father and mother, and two sisters. She is survived by her brother and sister in law, J. Harry and Elizabeth Varner of Alpharetta, GA; two nieces; two nephews; and several grand nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Sky View Memorial Park in Asheville at 1:00 pm Saturday, November 6, 2010.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Pittsboro Christian Village, 1825 East Street, Pittsboro, NC 27312.

Harry and Beth, We are never ready to lose our loved ones and the only comfort has to come from our Faith in the Sovereignty of God and the manifested concern of caring friends. Please know we are thinking of you and holding you in our prayers. We hope in some small way it does help to know others care.
As I looked at Eunice’s picture in the Class of 41 annaul this morning I was all too aware of how fast the years have passed. I sent the obit from the Asheville paper to some of your friends. Joe
