Posted By Hall-Wynne On November 4, 2010 @ 12:00 am In Obituaries | No Comments

Estelle Perry Ritch, 92, Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother “Mama” went peacefully to be with the Lord on November 4, 2010.

Estelle was born in 1918 at home in Wake County NC. She was a devoted mother of one, giving all her life to family and to those who knew her. Estelle retired from American Tobacco Company in Durham and enjoyed retirement, spending time with Charlie and the chaps. She loved going to the coast, fishing and family. Another passion was basketball and the Duke Blue Devils. Coach K never knew about one of his biggest fans. She was a great cook and ensured that her entire family loved food like she did, especially Sunday lunch and a little dessert.

She was active in her church and loved the Lord all her life. Her personal testimony of overcoming great obstacles is a shining beacon of faith and hope to all those who knew and loved her. Her sacrifices were supreme.

Words will never capture how much of a positive impact she made on those who were close to her and even some who were not. She was a special woman, possessing great strength, and making the most of everything that she put her mind to.

Estelle is survived by her daughter, Betty Ann Bunn, grandchildren Zan Bunn and husband Scott of Cary, NC, Davina Touchton and husband Robert of Raleigh, NC, Doyle Bunn and wife Rhonda of Richmond, VA, along with adored great-granddaughter Reagan. She is survived by a step-daughter Peggy Ritch, a special niece Brenda Bell, and many additional nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles T. Ritch, son-in-law, Colonel Bunn, two brothers and five sisters.

The service will be held on Sunday November 7 at 2:30pm in the Chapel at Hall-Wynne, Durham. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Durham.

The family will receive friends Sunday, November 7 from 1-2:30 pm immediately prior to the service. Make condolences online at www.hallwynne.com. Flowers are acceptable.

Condolence from Charlotte Griffin on November 6th, 2010 12:00 am

Betty Ann, As you know and I told Aunt Estelle many times, she was like a mom to me for so many years, even in her last months. She and Uncle Charlie were so good to my mom and dad, visiting dad every day or so in the Nursing Home. I only wish I had not been so far away where I could have helped relief you some. I will miss her but knowing her life for Christ and how she witnessed to everyone of the family as well as strangers, I know I will meet her again. Time will not be as long it has been, but I will meet her there. I think about what rejoicing she began on Thursday night, meeting Uncle Charlie, seeing mom & dad, seeing her family but most of all seeing Jesus. I love you and your girls just as much as I loved her. You will never know this side of eternity what you have meant to me, just like your mom. She is receiving her rewards now. Love, Charlotte

Betty and the rest of the family . . .

God was so gracious to leave Mama with you for all those many years. I know her death leaves a big hole in your hearts, but just imagine the joy she experiences now – in heaven – that we cannot even begin to comprehend. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
