Ernest Merklein was one of my most delightful discoveries after moving to Shreveport in the 1970s. We met thru Boy Scout Troop 12 at Betty Virginia Park. It was obvious that he was a Southern Gentleman in the very best sense. On Scout outings he was an example to all. I am gratful to have had these experiences which EM enhanced.

I had the honor of meeting your husband/father at the Dubose Health Center while instructing students from DTCC. He was always delightful, full of praise and compassion to myself and students.I knew our day would always have a positive comment from this delightful man. Although his life had caused him to no longer be home with family, he continued to give so much and be a part of many peoples lives. Our hearts and prayers go out to you all and thank you for letting us be a small part of this wonderful mans life.
