Elisabeth Ford Siebert quietly passed on March 23, 2012 to be with the Lord.

Elisabeth Betty was born on April 5, 1923 in Akron, Ohio. Betty was predeceased by her parents, Robert Francis Ford and Rose Shanley. Betty was also predeceased by her first husband Werner Scheidegger.

Betty is survived by her second husband, Edward G. Siebert; three step-children, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Betty and Edward had wonderful years together; they enjoyed traveling to interesting destinations. They were devoted to each other and lived life to the fullest.

Following graduation from Purdue University in 1943, Betty started a wide ranging career in the business world working for Citi-Bank in their Income Tax Division.

Subsequent to Betty’s marriage to Werner Scheidegger, Betty became his business partner. Betty managed the internal affairs of the company while Werner concentrated on sales and service around the world. The prime product of their export business was Scotsman heating and cooling towers for foreign companies. They had installations in India, Japan, Africa, Saudi Arabia, and throughout Europe.

Betty loved animals and had a lifelong interest in animal shelters.

Betty had a passion for Saint John Knits and other fashionable outfits. She always looked the part of a successful business woman.

Betty was a member of the Purdue Alumni Association – President’s Club. She also was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority at Purdue and has maintained a strong loyalty to Delta Gamma throughout her lifetime. Those who knew Betty well sometimes called her “Peaches”. While in the dormitory as Purdue Betty acquired this nickname. The name was used as they had too many “Bettys” and since Betty grew up in Georgia, “Peaches” seemed like a great fit.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 27th, in Few Chapel at Croasdaile Village, Durham, NC. A post service reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke’s Church, 1737 Hillandale Road, Durham, NC 27705 or American Parkinson’s Disease Association, 135 Parkinson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10305 www.apdaparkinson.org.

Condolences for the family of “Elisabeth Ford Siebert”

Condolence from Roxanne LaMuth on April 9th, 2012 12:00 am

I just learned of Elisabeth’s passing. We all knew and loved Elisabeth and called her Peaches. She was a wonderful Delta Gamma that personally touched my heart with her sweetness and dedication to DG. She will definitely be missed. Peaches was my Grandmother’s best friend, and my siblings and I have heard about their many adventures since we were children. Like my Grammere, who passed in January, Peaches was spunky, intelligent, brave, and ahead of her time. The very fact of her and Ed reminds me that we are never necessarily past the point when we can agree to another adventure in life, and how amazing is that? I found out that she had passed on the day we were supposed to go and visit her and Ed, and I am so sorry that we missed the two of them, and by only a few days.
