Colleen Thrift Petty

Mrs. Colleen Thrift Petty, 87, formerly of Old Sanford Rd., Pittsboro, died May 8, 2009 at The Laurels of Chatham.

Mrs. Petty was born in Chatham County on September 25, 1921, the daughter of John W. Thrift and Edith Dean Thrift. She was a graduate of Pittsboro School and retired from the textile industry where she had worked as an inspector. Mrs. Petty was a member of Hanks Chapel United Church of Christ.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday at Hanks Chapel United Church of Christ. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family in the church fellowship hall following the service.

Mrs. Petty is survived by a daughter, Barbara Worrell and husband Rex, of Southern Pines; a son, Wesley

Butch, I am sorry to hear about your mother. It reads like she’s been declining. I miss the good times we had back in the late ’60’s. I always thought a lot of you and your family. I lost my Mom in 1991. I feel really bad for you losing yours so close to Mother’s Day and having that to think about every year. If you need anything, please let me know. 704 826 6268……John Atwater
