Clydie Ann Clayton Lewter passed away Monday, March 3, at her home in Apex, NC.
Mrs. Lewter was born February 1, 1937 to Henry Cornelius Clayton and Allie Sue Wagner Clayton in Person County, NC. She was a loving wife, aunt and sister. Mrs. Lewter was a member of Bell’s Baptist Church in Apex; a dedicated care-giver; and, always the first to assist those who were sick. She was a full-fledged character with a great sense of humor and loved to sing. Mrs. Lewter worked at Kaiser Roth prior to working at the University of North Carolina.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lewter was preceded in death by her husband, Genius Lewter and her brother, Henry Nathaniel Clayton. She is survived by her sister, Alma Cash of Apex and her brother and sister-in-law, Kirby and Charlotte Adcock of Salisbury, NC.
A Celebration of Mrs. Lewter’s life will be held at Hall-Wynne Griffin Chapel in Pittsboro on Saturday, March 8 with visitation from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. and the service beginning at 3:00 p.m. The Rev. Rick Washington will be officiating. Burial will follow the service at Bell’s Baptist Church in Apex, NC.
