I was deeply saddened to hear of Buddy’s death. He was such a kind man — always showing interest in other people and offering a word of encouragement. He and my husband used to have some interesting conversations about real estate . . . they shared the same philosophy on many topics. And golf — Buddy sure did love golf. I’m glad he was able to enjoy it for so many years, both as a player and a spectator. Please accept my deepest sympathy over your loss.

I mourn the passing of a very dear friend with whom many experiences reside in my memory. Those include being classmates at Durham High School and Duke University and the sharing of our US Navy careers although we did not serve in the same commands. Buddy was an extraordinary person of great talent and character, a beacon of concern for many others, always sharing in a joyful spirit and an uplifting manner. Being with him was to know pleasure and comfort. His influence will extend for generations. To all of the family, especially to Doris and Ralph, David and Jan, know that there is a peace which pervades all and he is at rest.
