Audrey Rachel Rabalais, 73, passed away on July 14, 2019 in hospice care in Durham, NC after a short illness. Audrey was born on May 5, 1946 in Bunkie, Louisiana to Lenore and James Rabalais. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics and Education at St. Mary’s Dominican College in 1968. She also matriculated into Trinity Evangelical Divinity School where she was Head Resident of Johnson Dormitory and Assistant Dean of Women while she studied theology. Audrey spent the next few years teaching home economics both in Louisiana and Wisconsin. From 1974 to 1986 Audrey worked in office management, most frequently in bookstores. She was very successful in growing Logos bookstore as well as Spring Arbor Distributors. Audrey then took on the field of marketing with Chapel Hill Marketing Inc. to help produce a handheld computer Bible. Her marketing experience helped her when she opened and operated her own retail store, The Herb Cottage, where she consulted with clients for their nutritional supplement needs. She retired in 2013 so she could concentrate on her hobbies and passions.
Audrey loved crafting with textiles, such as crocheting, quilting, knitting, and sewing. Audrey was a member of Knit One, Pray Too, the local chapter of the national Shawl Ministry. The group knitted and crocheted shawls while praying for individuals in hospital or confined to home. She was a devoted member of her church and volunteered with prison ministry. Audrey was a woman of faith and it showed through every aspect of her life. Interceding in prayer was Audrey’s automatic response in life. She was a caring daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and Christian who showed her love extravagantly. Her friends and family find comfort in Audrey moving on to her eternal life and feasting at the heavenly banquet.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lenore and James Rabalais, and her siblings Michael Damian Rabalais, Martin Joseph Rabalais, and Anna Christine Feeney.
She is survived by her siblings James Paul Rabalais, and his daughter Mary Ellen (Rusty) Courville, and Mary Ann (Bill) Field, and their children Eddie (Natalie) Field and Audrey (Daniel) Rodriguez.
