Annie S. Kearney, 92, died on Wednesday, January 19, 2011. Annie was born in Franklin Co. NC to the late Irma and Al Sheron on December 3, 1918.
Annie was a great woman and possessed many of the characteristics and qualities of so many great women before her. She tirelessly cared for her family in every respect possible. She found great joy in the time and activities that brought her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren together.
Of the many activities that she enjoyed, there were two that seemed to bring her the most pleasure. She loved to read. She was often found in a comfortable chair with a good book in hand. She also enjoyed gardening and good hard work in the yard. It was only in her late 80’s that she finally decided to let someone, other than herself, cut the grass at her home.
Annie is survived by her daughters, Rosemary Phillips of Kure Beach, NC; Annette McGhee of Franklinton, NC; son, H. Willard. Kearney, Jr. and his wife Cathy of Franklinton, NC; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, H. Willard Kearney; daughters, Jeannette Patterson and Patricia Bennett; and 2 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends and guests on Friday, January 21, 2011 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service – Franklinton Chapel, 504 E. Mason St. Franklinton and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Funeral Ceremonies will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 22, 2011 From Union View Baptist Church, 13 S. Chavis St., Franklinton. The Rev. Jonathan Chandler will officiate. Burial will immediately follow in Fairview Cemetery.
