
Our beloved Ms. Annie Ruth Durham, 90 years young, went home to be with the Lord Friday, December 22, 2006. She lived her entire life on Chapel Hill Rd. in Durham. Annie Ruth lived her life with humility, dignity and respect for others without ever asking for anything in return. She loved the Lord as a devoted Christian and faithful member of Lakewood United Methodist Church, serving in various capacities over the years.
Annie Ruth worked for the B.C. Remedy Co. for many years and after retirement she volunteered at Durham Regional Hospital for 26 years. She devoted her life to care and help others.
Surviving are members of the Strickland family: brother-in-law, Kelly; nephew, Ronnie and wife, Kathy; niece Susan; one great-nephew, Jay and wife, Amy; one great-great nephew, Brandon; and two great-great nieces, Chandler and Madi; and her adopted niece, Ivette; as well as several cousins.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 27, from Lakewood United Methodist Church with Rev. Gail Myers and Rev. Leonard Doucette presiding. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
Friends may visit Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Susan Strickland, 4809 Guinevere Ct. in Durham.
Selected pallbearers include Jay Strickland, Carl Allen, Dennis Nichols, Wiley Clark, Duval Byrd and Jonnathan Anderson.

I feel so fortunate that I had an opportunity to meet Annie Ruth and talk to her about how she knew my Grandmother Remington and growing up in the Lakewood area. She was kind and sweet. We will miss seeing her at the Strickland family celebrations!
