Anna Echols Archambault

Posted By Hall-Wynne On October 18, 2018 @ 12:31 pm In Durham,Obituaries | 9 Comments

Anna Echols Archambault, 36, of Apex, NC, beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister, granddaughter, aunt, niece, cousin, and great friend died peacefully on a beautiful fall Sunday morning, October 14, 2018. She was with her mother and father, the loving and steadfast company with whom she entered this world. Anna was an incredible warrior in her battle with cancer, facing unimaginable difficulties with fierce determination and dignity, never losing her hope or her spark for life. Anna lived to love and enjoyed eight years of marriage to the love of her life, Adam. Perhaps the greatest gift of their marriage was her pride and joy, the “Sunshine of her Life” as she called him, her precious son, Edward, 6.

Anna was born on September 25, 1982 in Birmingham, AL and grew up in Greensboro, NC. She graduated from Page High School in 2001 and attended Samford University in Birmingham before transferring to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in History in 2006. Answering a lifelong call to share her faith while using her incredible gifts in children’s ministry, Anna spent a year teaching bible clubs and life skills in remote villages of the High Andes Mountains above Huaraz, Peru. Following her time in Peru, Anna returned to school at Greensboro College, earning her North Carolina Special Education Teacher’s Certification which she immediately put to use as a Special Ed teacher at Lakewood Elementary School in Durham.

Anna’s passion for children could be seen in the children’s ministry programs at Church of the Good Shepherd in Durham, teaching Sunday School and Children’s Church classes. Her light and creativity were particularly effective as a Vacation Bible School leader. These gifts touched many other children and friends as she served as a children’s leader in the Raleigh Area Bible Study Fellowship. Above all, her real and abiding passions were her love for her Lord Jesus Christ, her husband and son, her family and her friends. Anna sought to instill in her son and those around her a zest for life, the commitment to God’s True Word, family and friends, and the power of showing up and never quitting, regardless of the obstacles.

Anna is survived by her husband, Adam W. Archambault and her beloved son Edward of Apex, NC; parents Edward and Jody Echols of Greensboro, NC; siblings, Katherine Speaker (Edward and niece Tillar) of Florence, AL, Mollie Echols of Atlanta, GA, and Collier Echols of Miami, FL; grandparents Louise McKee of Durham, NC and Don and Norma Echols of Birmingham, AL; aunts Dona Green (Gary) of Birmingham, AL, Katherine McKee and Gigi Pierce (David) of Durham, NC; cousins Jan Keiser (James), Carson Green (Kelly), Winder Holeman (Estefania), Ran Holeman (Katie), Jordan Pierce, Mary Gates Pierce, Callie Pierce, Jesse Andrews, Jake Keiser, Jackson Keiser, Carson Green, Jr., Reily Green, George Holeman, Jamie Holeman, and Mateo Elias-Holeman.

Anna was predeceased by her grandfather George R. McKee, Jr., cousin Jason Gary Green, and uncle Quentin Mallard.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018 at 11:30 a.m., at Church of the Good Shepherd, 3741 Garrett Rd, Durham, NC 27707. Visitation will be held prior to the service, from 9:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.

I remember playing with Anna when we were little. She had an amazing imagination and I always had so much fun hanging out with her. I’m sure her son has the same wonderful spirit and imagination. I don’t have the right words for such an immense loss in your life, but want you to know that I’m thinking of you and remembering Anna.

Condolence from JANET L JOINES on October 18th, 2018 4:11 pm

Dear Adam, Edward and the rest of Anna’s loved ones….. my heart rejoices that our beautiful sweet Anna is in heaven with our Lord Jesus and out of pain. I know that you will miss her as I will too. I loved her so much. I taught Edward at BSF when he just started to walk/talk (love that kid) and then was a co leader with Anna 2 yrs ago with the older babies. She inspired me as she walked in great faith with always a big smile on her face. She will never be forgotten and we will again see her.
Much love
Janet Joines

Echols family,

I can’t tell you how devastated I was to hear about Anna. I have such fond memories of growing up beside her in Greensboro @ Green Valley Pool, Harvester (Friendly Hills), and ya’lls house. I remember sitting next to Anna in Sunday School while Mr. and Mrs. Echols taught our class 🙂 Anna was a diamond in the rough. She was such an incredible example of Christ’s love manifest through one of His most special of children. She impacted me forever, and I share in your unimaginable grief. Our only comfort is knowing that today she dances at the feet of our Lord, and will wait for us all to join her soon. I love each of you dearly, and will continue to lift you up in prayer.

Love always,

Drew Hollowell

There are no words to truly express my sincere sympathy. I hadn’t been on facebook for a while and didn’t know Anna had left us. I went through the teacher ed program at Greensboro College with Anna and she brightened my days in class. Her smile was infectious and we shared a passion for helping for helping children. She will forever be in my heart as will her family.
