Andrew Jackson “A.J.” Perkinson died Monday evening, February 7, 2011, at Duke-Raleigh Hospital. He was 78 years old.
A.J. was born in Vance County to the late Blair and Lila Faulkner Perkinson on November 20, 1932. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Youngsville and was the founder of the Franklinton Rescue & EMS. A.J. also was an active member of American Legion Post 52; 40/8 Voiture 1174.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Anne L. Perkinson of Louisburg, NC; his daughter, Angie Callihan and husband, Joel, of Franklinton; his granddaughter, Blair Reynolds and husband, Jeff, of Raleigh; step-sons, Vic Rogers and wife, Jackie, of Youngsville; Johnny Rogers of Louisburg; and Billy Rogers of Durham; step-grandchildren, Pamela Jeffries and Trey Rogers; step great- grandchild, Graham Jeffries; and sisters, Lucy Simpson of Texas and Virginia Asbury of Henderson, NC. A.J. was preceded in death by his first wife, Zelma Perkinson.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Faith Baptist Church in Youngsville. Burial, with military honors provided by American Legion Post 52, will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Friends may visit one hour prior to the service in the church from 2:00-3:00 PM and other times at A.J.’s residence.
