
Durham – Mrs. Shirley Talley Riggsbee, 78, died Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Duke University Hospital.
Mrs. Riggsbee was born on August 6, 1938 in Durham, the daughter of the late Lena and Angus Talley. She graduated from Durham High School and was a longtime member of Temple Baptist Church. For many years she was employed as an Administrative Secretary in Duke University’s football office.
She is survived by her son, Rick Riggsbee, and his wife, Sharon, of Raleigh; grandchildren, Alex and Taylor Riggsbee; brother, Robert Talley, and his wife, Jean, of Greensboro, NC; sister, Gerri Smith of Durham; and her sisters-in-law, Alice DeLozier of Mebane, NC, Mary Talley of Oxford, NC and Peggy Talley of Durham, NC.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her brothers, Richard Talley, Marion Talley, and Ray Talley.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017, at 11:00am, at Temple Baptist Church, 4504 Sterling Drive, Durham. Officiating will be Rev. Mark Mofield, and Rev. Tim Wheeler. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service at the church, from 10-11 am.
Flowers are appreciated or memorial may be made to a charity of your choice.
