Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Home
Our Story
Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Home traces its beginnings to 1905 when the firm was founded in downtown Oxford as Perkins & Currin Funeral Home. It was moved into its current Greek Revival residence on historic College Street in 1962. The company was formerly owned by Stuart Vaughan and John Newell prior to becoming affiliated with Hall-Wynne in 2006. The home has undergone extensive renovations and re-decorating, restoring it to its original splendor while accommodating it more efficiently to the needs of our community.
Gentry-Newell & Vaughan is managed by Oxford native, H. Rives Hicks, with support from long-time, loyal associates who are well-known in the community. Despite the trend of consolidation by publicly-traded companies, we proudly maintain our distinction as a privately owned and operated company, directly accountable to the families we serve!
