Hall-Wynne - Griffin Chapel
Our Story
Hall-Wynne Funeral Service - Griffin Chapel was founded in 1916 by George Jeter Griffin at its present location. Mr. Griffin was later joined by his two sons, William and James Griffin. The family business continued in the third generation with William "Bill" Griffin, Jr., who remains active with the company today. To secure continuity with a privately owned firm, Bill Griffin merged the funeral home in 1997 with Hall-Wynne in Durham.
A new 7500 square foot state-of-the art facility with its inviting Arts & Crafts style decor, was opened in 2010, enabling us to better serve our growing area. Our Pittsboro office is managed by Arthur Sellers, with support from long-time, loyal associates who are well-known in the community. Despite the trend of corporate consolidation, we proudly maintain our distinction as a privately owned and operated company, directly accountable to the families we serve.
Given our proximity to Chapel Hill and the many new residential communities in Orange and Chatham Counties, we have become the provider of choice. As the only privately-owned funeral home serving Apex and the surrounding Jordan Lake communities, Hall-Wynne has readily extended its care to this region. As such, we are able to make funeral arrangements in the comfort of our new, state-of-the-art facility or your home, and conduct funeral and memorial services conveniently at your place of worship, our facility or other desired location.
